Itinerary

Day 1Halle (Saale)

  • Arrival to the BER Airport (1.5 h by train to our city), LEJ Airport, Halle (Saale) Bus Station or Halle (Saale) Railways Station 
  • Transfer and check-in at the hotel 
  • 3 hour walking guided sightseeing tour across Halle (Saale) downtown. You will find a number of historical and architectural sites, which are the “calling card” of the city, founded in the 9th century. These attractions in ancient times were located both within the city walls and beyond them: Market Square with Marktkirche & Monument to Handel, Old Market with Monument to Miller With the Donkey, Martin Luther University, Moritzburg Castle, Place of the Old & New Synagogues, Stumbling Blocks and much more.   
  • Lunch time (extra charge)
  • At your choice, for an additional fee, you can visit the following interesting museums: Museum of Prehistory with the oldest reliable depiction of the sky in the world, Beatles Museum, which is the oldest, largest and most comprehensive public institution in the world dedicated to the Beatles, Giebichenstein Castle with beautiful views to the Saale River or Museum of the Halloren Chocolate Factory.

TRAVEL TIP #1. In Marktkirche Unserer Lieben Frau you can listen to a 30-minute organ concert for free. Works by great composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach are performed on two organs – small (Schuke-Orgel) and large (Reichel-Orgel). Ask your tour leader about the concert schedule.

TRAVEL TIP #2. Enjoy dinner at a Michelin-starred Spieseberg restaurant in Halle (Saale). Please be sure to reserve a table in advance or ask your tour leader to do it.

  • Overnight in Halle (Saale)

Day 2Halle (Saale) - Naumburg - Freyburg - Wine tasting - Halle (Saale)

After the breakfast in your hotel we will visit the Wine Region Saale-Unstrut, Germany’s northernmost wine region. 

  • First we will visit Naumburg, an ancient city with a 1000-year history and an impressive ancient an ancient city with a 1000-year history and an impressive ancient Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul, which is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
  • After that we will go to Freyburg, informal capital of the Saale-Unstrut Wine Region. You will visit the Neuenburg Castle (XI cent.) and Wine Museum there.
  • Finally, we will visit the wine tasting with lunch on one of the private wineries. You will be able to taste “garage” wines from local grape varieties, such as Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Riesling, Blauer Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Dornfelder and Portugieser.

Day 3Halle (Saale) - Magdeburg - Halle (Saale)

After the breakfast in your hotel we will visit Magdeburg, the capital of the Saxony-Anhalt Federal Land and one of the greenest cities in Germany. During the day you can see the following attractions:

  • The Green Citadel, a building built in 2005 by the talented Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser and which became a symbol of Magdeburg. 
  • Magdeburg Cathedral of Saints Maurice and Catherine, the oldest Gothic cathedral in Germany, built in the 13th century.
  • Faun Fountain, which is also called the “Devil’s Fountain”.
  • Old Market Square, the central square of Magdeburg.
  • The Millennium Tower, a wooden building whose height reaches 60 meters. It is the third tallest wooden building in the world. On six floors there is a museum where you can learn everything about the history of human development.

Return transfer and overnight in Halle (Saale).

Day 4Halle (Saale) - Quedlinburg - Thale - Wernigerode - Halle (Saale)

After the breakfast in your hotel we will go the the Harz Mountains. You will visit UNESCO heritage sites, mystical places associated with the German epic, as well as Germany’s smallest house and many other interesting sights.

  • The first point of our journey is the city of Quedlinburg, a real museum of German half-timbered timber. More than 1,300 buildings of this type have been preserved there. Therefore this ancient city was included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
  • Then we will visit the Witches’ Dance Ground, which can be reached by cable car from the town of Thale.
  • After lunch (extra charge) we will go to the unofficial capital of the Harz, the city of Wernigerode. Culture lovers and families, walkers and tourists – there is something for everyone here, because the half-timbered idyll has a lot to offer, in addition to attractions such as the smallest house, the town hall and, finally, Wernigerode Castle.

Return transfer and overnight in Halle (Saale).

Day 5Halle (Saale) - Leipzig

After the breakfast in your hotel you have a free time for shopping or sightseeing in Halle (Saale).
Depending on which destination you choose to continue your journey or fly home, we will offer you a transfer to the train / bus station of Halle (Saale). We also can provide a transfer and tour to Leipzig, the biggest city of the Federal Land of Saxony (extra charge).
